| The Rpd 3 histone deacetylase ( HDAC ) functions in a large complex containing many proteins including Sin 3 and Sap 30 . ^^^ Previous evidence indicates that the pho 23 , rpd 3 , sin 3 , and sap 30 mutants exhibit similar defects in PHO 5 regulation . ^^^ We report that pho 23 mutants like rpd 3 , sin 3 , and sap 30 are hypersensitive to cycloheximide and heat shock and exhibit enhanced silencing of rDNA , telomeric , and HMR loci , suggesting that these genes are functionally related . ^^^ Our results demonstrate that Myc Pho 23 co immunoprecipitates with HA Rpd 3 and HA Sap 30 . ^^^ Furthermore , similar levels of HDAC activity were detected in immunoprecipitates of HA Pho 23 , HA Rpd 3 , or HA Sap 30 . ^^^ |
